Nana ai Katsu is a local, family owned shop located in Kaimuki. Their available food items varied on a day-to-day basis, so they requested an illustrated menu that made it easier to effectively communicate what the daily items were. My goal was to create a playful and happy design to match their restaurant aesthetic, while making the items look as appetizing and accurate as possible.

JAPANESE MURAL FOR BACK ENTRANCE

The owners had an appreciation for traditional ukiyo-e paintings, and requested for a mural inspired by the painting: Triptych of Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Spectre. To add a personalized twist, we had the skeleton revealing katsu-spam musubi as that is one of their most popular menu items.
