THE CHALLENGE:
Yami Toperzer, a massage therapist who specializes in deep tissue work, relaxation, and cupping, requested a logo and a business card design. She gave me full freedom for design direction, so I asked her to make me a mood board to get a general sense of what aesthetics she gravitated toward. I noticed she loved butterflies, warm colors, and cottage-core photos. With this information, I began brainstorming concepts for a memorable icon.
THE SOLUTION:
I used Graphic symbolism:
Hands = Massage
Butterfly shape = Personal touch
Flame-like gradient = Cupping
Y shape = Yami (her name)
DESIGN PROCESS:
When I saw the butterflies in her mood board, I immediately started visualizing shadow puppet hands. I thought incorporating hands in the logo would relate to her massage business perfectly.
Images I found on Google and Pinterest helped inspire me, and it became my goal to create a sophisticated, clean version of this this idea.
USING THE LOGO:
I created a business card design including her favorite colors and elements from her mood board.
